Baby photos

That got your attention didn't it! Haha, well recently we have been working on our new collection of baby patterns, its super cute and gorgeous, and was alot of fun on shoot when we did the photos.

This one is one of my absolute favourites, this is Orla Esme transfixed with a skein of yarn, she LOVED purple and it was the only way we could keep her in one place.....

Gray by Susan Crawford

We are delighted that Susan Crawford has designed a gorgeous lace cardigan using Scrumptious Chunky in the latest issue of The Knitter magazine.

Gray8
© Susan Crawford

The design was inspired by the actress Dulcie Gray, and features a simple lace pattern with ribbed edgings and a folded facing on the front bands. Perfect for snuggling into over the winter months!

As the design uses Scrumptious Chunky it will knit up really quickly and have you warm in no time! The pattern is sized from 32 to 50 inch bust, and has 6.5in of positive ease, for a slouchy fit.

The issue goes on sale in the shops on 1st November (that's today!), so go and seek out a copy. Thanks once again to Susan for a fabulous design.

Watch this space for more designs in Scrumptious yarns, as A Stitch in Time 2 will be landing on doormats shortly, and features 10 designs in my yarns!! We can't wait.

The Scrumptious Collection Giveaway!

We were sorting through stuff on our return from Ally Pally, and thought it would be nice to do a little blog giveaway.

The Scrumptious Collection1

A copy of the book, and a hank of Skinny Nef Lace in Rich Moss are up for grabs. This is enough yarn to knit either Sonning or Tirrold (all sizes short version), or even Hethe (but only in the smallest size).

It's been a few months since The Scrumptious Collection was published, so to remind you of all the lovely projects it contains, we thought we would send you to have another look at the designs. Check out the Ravelry page with all of the designs on it, and then let us know which is your favourite and why? We will draw a winner at random from all of the comments on this post next Thursday (27th October 2011). One entry per person please!

If you already own a copy of the book, we would love to get some reviews up on its Amazon page. If you feel so inclined you can leave a review here: The Scrumptious Collection on Amazon

Many thanks, and good luck!

Fyberspates does the Knitting and Stitching Show

We had an amazing time at the Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace last week. It was brilliant to meet so many passionate knitters. We adored seeing all the amazing things that you have been making from Scrumptious and our other yarns. It was a real treat.

Ally Pally1

We had a lovely stand, not far from the huge Rose Window - a much-needed landmark to help navigation. The show was MASSIVE! There were hundreds of stands, selling everything from sewing machines and fabric, to beautiful yarns and books.

Ally Pally

Team Fyberspates consisted of Jeni (of course! - on the right of the picture above), me (Jen, on the left), Nic (giggling in the photo below), Jim (who came to sell over the weekend) and Dunc (who helped with set-up and break-down).

Ally Pally2

The boys managed to avoid having their pictures taken - not sure how!

We took it in turns to model the garments from The Scrumptious Collection, but it was ever so hot in the hall. If you came in the afternoon, the chances are the garments were back on the hangers! Nic sorted us out with beautiful pinnies from Andsewtoknit for holding all of our necessities, and I set mine up with a mobile knitting station.

If you missed us at Ally Pally, then do stop by the online shop. The book and full range of Scrumptious yarns are available online.

Thanks also to Mum for having us to stay - much appreciated!

Ally Pally3

We're booked in with a stand at Fibre Flurry in Birmingham on 29th October, so do come and say hello there as well. More on that later in the week...

Dulcie in The Knitter Issue 37

We were really excited to receive the latest issue of The Knitter! Not only does it include an absolutely stunning brand new Jane Sowerby shawl design, but it also features this delightful little short-sleeved top called Dulcie:

© The Knitter

The design is by Amanda Jones and it uses just 1-2 skeins of Fyberspates Scrumptious Lace (shown here in Rose Pink). The design goes from 30 to 44 inch bust size, and features a pretty shell lace motif.

The magazine in on sale in UK shops now, and you are looking for a cover like this:

TKN37.coversmall
Isn't the Jane Soweby design beautiful as well? You could use 1 x 100g skein of Scrumptious Lace to knit a single colour version of the triple triangle design...

The first of a couple of big Announcements..New distributor Lantern Moon

There is a reason for the lack of blogs recently, things have been super hectic, but for good reasons, we are putting together new things for autumn which are due to be launched in the next week or so properly so I will announce these things this week, so it'll be bumper blog week.

But todays news is extra special. We have teamed up with Lantern Moon in the USA, and they are now our official distributor for Scrumptious there :)

Slowing right down and taking time.

Its a funny old life running your own business, it will always good for you as long as you continually learn the lessons it gives you. My freind says that the definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over again and hoping that you will get a different result each time, which ofcourse you never do!

I decided to live a little more and work a little less. Take evenings to relax, do some ACTUAL knitting, cook delicious food, take up a hobby, (actually cooking and learning about cooking is my hobby as lots of you know). Grow some stuff....oh boy do I have some nice photos to show you with my growing.

So..... lets start with the knitting, I am knitting lace weight, beautiful gorgeous Elegance camel silk, on 2.5mm needles, I know, I am as shocked as you are, and its for me, all mine! Not for samples, not for designs, just for me, this is an old photo now, but the rib is about 23 cm deep now, and I am about to start the fun bit! :

Knit 001

Secondly my garden, I do live in a super cute cottage in the cotswolds, and it has a wonderful little garden, and I love growing stuff in pots...every year I try growing things, and this year I have some super treats...

My Sunflowers:

The garden 011
These came about because I was sprouting some seeds in my sprouter, and I forgot about them, they went a bit mouldy, so I just blended them into the earth in a pot...and hey presto, I have 5 beautiful sunflowers.

Next are the chilli plants, I think there are at least 10, of varying varieties....

The garden 016

I think these are just general green chillis, but I have some dorset naggas which are my FAVOURITE for cooking, they are super hot, and give the most wonderful delcious heat.

Next is my Lemon Grass,.....yup, actual lemon grass, I am so so so proud I got these to germinate:

The garden 015
My toms are looking quite good too, but I don't know when on earth they will start turning red lol!

The garden 013

And just a general one of some of my pots lol, the building behind is a little outdoor office! And yes, some of those are baskets, I couldn't afford new pots, so I just used what I had....and moving units, I had LOADS of baskets which I put to good use!

The garden 014

And I have to say.....my most exciting thing from the garden, is that finally I have managed to grow an aubergine, after 4 years of trying to grow them, I finally have 5 on one plant...this is the biggest one:

The garden 012

I know its small...but its a  first, and I am super excited about it.

Tonight I am cooking marinated slow cooked pork belly from my fav Raymond Blanc book, (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED), and I shall do some more knitting I think...although I think I am in the mood for Hexipuffs ;)

Gorgeous new workshop.....

OK, so most of you know I have a new workshop, and  BEAUTY it is too. Its quite alot smaller than the other one, BUT its gorgeous, and dry and clean and on a stunning cotswold farm. The new address is:

Fyberspates
Unit 6 Oxleaze farm workshops
Broughton Poggs
Filkins
Lechlade
Glos, GL7 3RB

I do welcome visits from people as long as they let me know when they are coming, I do live only about 4 miles down the road, so if you ever want to pop in at short notice, and I am not there, its no trouble for me to come there, providing I am at home.

I can seriously recomend the area for a day out, I am about 5 miles from Burford which is the MOST gorgeous cotswold town with tea shops and there is a nice knitting shop there too, amongst other lovely things to buy, and Burford garden center is SUPER DUPER. I am about 1/4 of a mile away from the cotswold woolen weavers too, which again is a superb place to visit website needs a bit of updating, BUT the place is lovely, it has lots of woven fabrics and all sorts and a teashop too :)

So I have been threatening pictures for ages....here are some tasters :)
